Make the collection process safe
Before starting a folder, consider who can access the device, cloud account, printer or postal address being used. A shared password or automatic photo backup can expose documents unexpectedly. A qualified support provider can help discuss safer ways to communicate; do not change a shared account in a way that may put you at risk.
Work with records already safely available. Do not confront someone, return to an unsafe location, or secretly access an account you are not authorized to use merely to obtain evidence. Safety and lawful access matter more than assembling a visually complete packet.
Separate memory from supporting records
Use a private chronology with approximate dates clearly marked as approximate. Keep your own account in your own words. In another column, list any corresponding record already available. A gap in the record is a question to discuss with counsel, not an invitation to invent a document or rehearse a dramatic version of events.
